We are straight back into YMT next Monday and our topic this month is ‘Anxiety & Peace’. Anxiety is seen as one of the most significant issues facing young people today. It is an emotion we all feel at various points in our lives, and 1 in 6 young people will experience an anxiety condition at some point in their lives (AnxietyUK). Volunteers and full-time youth ministers alike need to know how to respond helpfully when hearing “I’ve got anxiety”.
On Monday we’ll dig beneath the surface to take a look at what is going on. How can we help young people to talk about their experiences and identify when they need help? What might help us to ground our youth ministry practice in theology? How might we point towards peace?
Join us as Grace Read leads us in searching for answers to these questions and more! Grace studied Psychology and English Literature at Keele University and specialised in the psychology of education. She has worked with young people in voluntary and paid capacities for over 15 years. During her time with Youthscape Grace developed a keen interest in young people and their self-worth and body image. This is an interest that she has continued to explore and develop, alongside an interest in developing emotional and spiritual health. Grace is on the Souster Youth board of trustees and a volunteer youth minister in her local church.
